Fareed Ayaz and Abu Mohammed, hailing from Pakistan, rank among the most distinguished singers of Qawwali, a stunning music form brought to the West a few years ago by the incomparable Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Qawwali is a Sufi devotional music, known as the 'path of the heart'. It has its origins in ancient Islamic poetry and expresses the intense thoughts and feelings of the great Sufi mystics.
