    Social Vision of the Centre\u00a0:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    The social vision of the centre, to which its artistic vision is anchored, aims to promote harmony and mutual respect among the members of the South Asian diaspora living in Canada and to build bridges with the larger Canadian society.     TK (Raghu) Raghunathan has been associated with the centre from its inception in 2002 and has previously held the positions of Secretary and the President of the board. Having been exposed to various kinds of arts in his youth and in his formative years, he has converted his appreciation and zeal for South Asian Classical arts into the mission of establishing and sustaining a multidisciplinary arts centre in Montreal.<\/h6>\n

    Professional opera singer, Kripa Nageshwar has performed\u00a0throughout\u00a0Canada, in the US, the\u00a0UK and in Europe, and has a background in Carnatic & Hindustani vocal and instrumental music, and dance. Kripa uses her various talents to explore, create and produce musical and interdisciplinary opera projects that focus on South Asian\u00a0culture. She joins the Kabir Centre team, offering her variety of skill sets and allowing her to contribute to the creation, promotion and democratization of South Asian arts in Quebec.<\/h6>\n

    Syeda Nayab Bukhari earned her doctorate from the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women\u2019s Studies, Simon Fraser University, BC. Her areas of interest include race, class, and gender; immigration and integration studies; mainstream and ethnic media; and community-based programming for disadvantaged groups. Interested in qualitative research, she has engaged with several minority ethnic communities in Canada, learning about their lived experiences and transnational journeys. She is also interested in filmmaking as a visual research method for knowledge translation to a large audience.<\/h6>\n

    Sukhvinder Jutla has an eclectic background. Of Indian heritage, he was born in Kenya and lived there for 13 years, followed by another 13 years in the U.K. He graduated from University of Leeds in Electrical and Electronic Engineering before emigrating to Quebec, Canada in 1976. He is currently working as Aerospace Quality Engineer for Pratt and Whitney Canada. A published author and polyglot, he loves to write poetry in English and Punjabi and to narrate them at the Poetry Club gatherings of the centre.<\/h6>\n

    Ambica Sharma is a Montreal based multidisciplinary artist, actor, dancer, and poet. She writes and publishes poetry and her keen interest in poetry has led her to perform at multiple platforms in North America. She has played lead roles with Theatre New Brunswick and choreographs and performs Indian dance forms through her dance group in Montreal. She hosts a daily live show with Radio Humsafar Montreal & CKUT McGill and curates Kabir Centre Poetry Club Montreal. She has developed a Dance Theatre piece with Teesri Duniya Theatre using her own poems.<\/h6>\n

    Tehzib is an artist by profession and specializes in paintings related to South Asian culture. She is highly motivated to support the cultural harmony among the South Asian communities in Montreal. She thus identifies with the philosophy of the Kabir Centre in this respect.     Anjali Kapoor Kohli is a visual artist who also works an interpreter for asylum seekers and new immigrants. Using acrylic, ink and mixed media, Anjali\u2019s paintings are mostly done in a semi abstract approach. Her art – both painting and poetry – is largely influenced by the people she encounters in her work and the chaos and beauty around her. Anjali\u2019s art has been showcased in galleries in Montreal, Toronto and Tokyo, as well as various publications such as Blank Spaces, a Canadian Literary Arts magazine and It\u2019s Just Words anthology.<\/h6>\n

    Khosro Berahmandi, a recipient of Charles Biddle award in 2022 lives and works in Tiohtia\u2019ke \u2013 Montreal. Khosro studied Visual Arts at the University of Concordia in Montreal and the University of Paris VIII. He is a distinguished and prolific artist accomplishing over fifty group and solo exhibitions throughout the past three decades. His career has encompassed projects held in Canada, Europe, and the United States, with an accent upon interdisciplinary creation concerned with an international contingency of artists.<\/h6>\n

    Dushyant is a former family physician, now a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist. He has wide interests in the arts, humanities and the social sciences. He played a leading role in organizing Kabir Centre’s South Asian Film Festival of Montreal in 2015, 2016 and 2020.<\/h6>\n

    Brintha Koneshachandra is a project manager in equity, diversity, and inclusion at IRIPII, a multidisciplinary artist (visual arts, poetry, theatre), and a historian (M.A, PhD – ABD) specializing in urban and U.S. history. Her art work explores Eelam-Tamil realities, identity, resistance, femininity, and decolonial narratives. With expertise in intercultural facilitation, policy development, and inclusive governance, she aims at actively shaping social impact. She has collaborated with Collectif Les Tisseuses, Festival Acc\u00e8s Asie, Radio-Canada, PEARL Action, Larousse, The Funambulist, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.<\/h6>\n
